Mass. bill would ban solitary confinement of mentally ill

No word yet from media outlets on whether former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick had signed into law a bill that would ban the solitary confinement of mentally ill prisoners for more than 30 days at a time. Patrick left office earlier this week. Let’s hope it becomes a happy new year for some prisoners.

New Governor Charlie Baker is being sworn in today.
